Douglas-Apsley National Park

This understated national park near Bicheno, on the East Coast of Tasmania, is a gem awaiting discovery by those with a real sense of adventure.

It’s a place of surprising contrasts, featuring tranquil waterholes, deep river gorges and thundering waterfalls, including the spectacular Apsley Falls. The crystal-clear waters that run through the park are a welcome sight on a hot summer’s day. Enjoy a picnic, a short walk, go for a refreshing swim, or take time out for quiet contemplation.

Walks within the national park will take you through a diversity of vegetation and terrain, including picturesque Apsley Gorge. Experience marshlands, wet gullies and pockets of rainforest. Douglas-Apsley National Park may fly under the radar, but it protects an important swathe of dry eucalypt forest as well as numerous rare and endangered plants and animals.

Bicheno Golf Club

Bicheno Golf Club website.  The club is located on the sunny east coast of Tasmania about 5km north of the town of Bicheno.

The course currently consists of 9 holes and 18 tees both the course and greens are fully irrigated to provide excellent playing conditions all year ’round.

We have a fully equipped clubhouse and the course is open 7 days a week for play.  The clubhouse is open with full bar facilities every week on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday; on other days there is an honour system located in the foyer for green fee.

A penguin tour is the best way to see penguins up close and safely without disturbing them, or hurting yourself! The penguins are accustomed to our tour and lights, but loud noises and camera flashes will scare them away.

Lobster Shack

Just like the name suggests Lobster is the hero here! To be more precise its fresh Tasmanian Southern Rock Lobster but that’s not all that’s on offer at one of Tassie’s newest and most perfectly located seafood hot spots!

Owners Sara and Marcus have seafood in their blood .Marcus launches his boat metres from their business that sits perched above the orange lichen covered rocks of Bicheno’s fishing boat harbour. He brings home fresh seafood to be processed in their export facility while Sara runs “The Lobster Shack”.

The vibe is casual and they keep the food simple at “The Shack”;
